EXPAND YOUR REACH
If you haven’t already done so, please register for a specific day by logging in, adding an event to the calendar, and selecting Instagram Takeover as the category. This could be one where you’re working on an awesome project, meeting with several clients who you’d like to interview, don’t have anything booked and want to teach a mini lesson, etc.
Eastside Entrepreneurs Instagram Takeover Guide
Welcome to your Instagram Takeover Day! We’re excited to spotlight YOU to our amazing community. Please follow these steps to ensure a smooth and engaging experience:
🔐 1. Login Info
An email will be sent with details to log into the @eastsideentrepreneurs Instagram account on the morning of your scheduled takeover. It will look something like this…
Username: @eastsideentrepreneurs
Temporary Password: [Insert password here]
Please do not change the password. Log out at the end of the day.
🖼️ 2. Create Your Feed Introduction Post
You’ll use our Canva feed template to introduce yourself to our audience. This is your one post for the day.
Steps:
Open the Canva feed post template:
Create a copy of the color you would like to use, move it to the end of the list, and edit that copy.
Personalize it with:
A photo of you or your logo
Download the final design as a PNG
4. Post to the @eastsideentrepreneurs feed with a caption that:
Introduces who you are and what you do
Tags/Collaborates with your business and/or personal IG
Invites followers to tune into your Story takeover
Use relevant hashtags for your business, but also add things like #seattlenetworking #womenownedbusiness #RedmondWA etc.
You may add additional photos of you and your business to make this a carousel post (one with multiple slides that people click through).
🎉 3. Announce Your Takeover in Stories
Use our Instagram Story Canva template to kick off your takeover.
Steps:
Open the Canva Story template:
Make a copy of the page you would like to use and move it to the bottom of the list.
Add to said copy:
Your photo(s) and/or Logo
Download as PNG.
Post it to Stories early in the day to let followers know what’s coming.
📲 4. Own the Stories All Day
The rest of the day is YOURS in Stories!
We recommend starting with an introduction and letting the audience know that you’re a member and you’re doing an Instagram Takeover for the day.
Share anything that helps our community get to know you:
Behind-the-scenes of your business
Tips, lessons, or tools you love
Day-in-the-life content
Polls, questions, or story stickers to drive engagement
Links to your offers or events (use “Link” sticker)
Other notes:
Be sure to @mention yourself regularly to drive people to your page
You may want to mention yourself in all stories and then add those to a highlight on your own page.
Story etiquette: Keep it authentic and positive. No hard selling—focus on connection and value!
🧼 5. Wrap Up + Log Out
At the end of your takeover:
Thank followers for tuning in (a final story is great!)
Log out of the @eastsideentrepreneurs account
✅ Reminders:
You only get 1 Post — make it count!
Stories disappear in 24 hours, but you may save them to the “IG Takeovers” highlights.
Be inclusive, kind, and professional
Have fun and be yourself — this is about celebrating you!
